A Legal Way to Focus
In recent years, pharmaceutical drugs for disorders like ADD have become more accessible — even for those not suffering from mental illness. Referred to as “smart drugs” or “study drugs” on high school and college campuses, the pills can be problematic.
These prescription drugs are expensive, not easy to obtain legally and may be extremely addictive.
Other side effects include an uptick in risk-taking behavior, sleeplessness and more.
This is where cannabis comes in.
While it’s not entirely exempt from any consequences, the side effects are much less severe than with your options above.
The legal status of cannabis has made it difficult for research to confirm the benefits of cannabis use. However, with time, we believe the link between cannabis and productivity will be unquestionable.
For other positive effects of cannabis, watch the video below.
Cannabis as an Alternative
You probably wouldn’t believe us at first, but with a properly chosen strain, Mary Jane could be an alternative, and more sustainable, answer to your dilemma.
We know, it’s typically correlated with the opposite, which is a lack of brain function, but studies show that’s not necessarily the case.
Worry about this only if you started consuming cannabis at a very young age and have abused it ever since.
If not, it shouldn’t be a concern.
In fact, many are defying this stereotype, and that will only increase.
It wasn’t until the last few years that we had such a broad expansion of legal cannabis options in the United States.
Thanks to all the states on board, many now have access to this all-natural plant that didn’t before — legally, at least.
How to Obtain Cannabis
If you’re not familiar with the marijuana laws, some states have legalized it for recreational use, such as California and Colorado. Other states allow use for medical purposes only, but obtaining your license isn’t too difficult.
Hop on down to your local cannabis “doctor” and explain your symptoms.
Qualifying conditions vary from state to state but for an idea, check out Michigan’s here.
Make sure to explain anything and everything that could benefit you in receiving your license.
Once you have your card, you’re granted access to the dispensaries within your state.
How to Choose the Best Strain for Productivity
If it all comes down to the strain, you might be wondering how to go about making an informed decision. We at Marijuana Seed Breeders lay it out for you as simply as possible.
There are two deciding factors in determining the best strains for productivity:
- Indica or Sativa
- THC content
Indica or Sativa?
One of those lies in the type of species — Indica or Sativa. Scientific research doesn’t back the nomenclature or divisions as such. However, there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence to help us out.
Because of this, dispensaries label their products as either Indica, Sativa or a mix of both.
Indica-dominant plants get a bad rep for placing you “ON the couch.”
They’re wonderful for relaxation, sleep, and chronic pain.
What Indica species aren’t great for is upping your energy and productivity levels.
Our 5 best strains for productivity are Sativa-dominant for this reason.
All of them are, at a minimum, 70 percent Sativa, up to 100 percent. The hybrids, or mixed plants, contain a remaining amount of Indica.
Sativa species provide that euphoric, energetic feeling you might associate with other (illegal) “uppers, which, to be clear, we don’t condone using”
Instead, the benefits of using a Sativa include:
- Suitable for daytime use.
- Increase in creativity.
- Uptick in productivity.
- Possible increase in serotonin (a neurotransmitter associated with mood).
- Anti-depressant qualities.
Oh yes, it’s where that discernable high comes from THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol (try saying that fast five times), is a chemical within the cannabis plant responsible for the psychoactive response in humans.
THC is only one out of 113 cannabinoids located in marijuana. Thanks to this beautiful compound, we get what we’re looking for — naturally and legally.
Each species contains a certain amount of THC. To receive productive results, our favorite species on this list have at least a 20 percent THC content.
This ensures that not only will your attention be stimulated, but you’ll enjoy the pleasurable effects cannabis provides.
Use Cannabis With Caution
If you abuse cannabis, the following may occur:
- Racing thoughts or paranoia. This is specifically the case with Sativa-dominant species. If taken in large quantities, it may provoke anxiety and stress, so less is more here. Start with small doses and adjust accordingly.
- Dangers of smoking. It’s an obvious one, but it must be said. Cigarette smoke may be worse than cannabis, but at the end of the day, it’s still smoking. Incessant coughing and increased risk for cancer may be among them.
To avoid the negative side effects of cannabis, we highly advise you to use it with caution. Note any drawbacks, monitor your dosage and chosen strains.
With time, we believe you’ll find the perfect balance.
For any questions or concerns, hit up your local cannabis doctor or dispensary. They’ll be more than happy to help.
Our best Strains for Productivity [Reviews]
We’ve finally arrived — are you ready to find out our 5 favorite buds?
Let's dive right in:
Original Haze Feminized review
This widely-popular strain first received its accolades in the weed-heavy Netherlands. It’s a hybrid concocted with species hailing from Thailand, south of India, Mexico and Columbia.
Anyone who’s been smoking buds for a while will be familiar with haze and its siblings, including Amnesia Haze.
We obtained these seeds in the 90s, and they’ve been successful ever since. You may be wondering why this is? Well, not only is Haze a high-yield plant, but it’s a strong one at that. It’s a potent species containing 100 percent Sativa — the only pure option on our list.
It can aid in productivity and may also help reduce stress, kick depression’s butt and stimulate your appetite. The latter may not be positive for everyone, we know. However, for those who struggle with any psychological difficulties that curb your desire to eat, it will stimulate you back to the plate.
After about 9 to 11 weeks, any grower with a little experience will get to enjoy these buds and their potency. It does take some patience, but the fruits of your labor can be measured both indoors and out.
Curbs psychological difficulties that kill productivity
Potent (23 percent THC — a little goes a long way)
The munchies are a downside for some
Power Plant Feminized review
Power Plant is a powerful Sativa at 90 percent, with 10 percent Indica and originally comes from South Africa. It made its way to the Netherlands in the 90s and has been a staple in most coffee shops there ever since.
This species is easy to grow, making it a favorite for all the newbies out there. It grows both indoors and outdoors with a yield of 450 Gr. / 16 Oz per m2 / 11 ft2) or 700 Gr. / 25 Oz, respectively. Another upside here is the short flowering time of 8 to 9 weeks only.
Whether you choose to grow or simply enjoy the smoke, you’ll notice the buds are pretty in color and quite compact.
The taste of this species is unique with a peppery, sharp, yet sweet taste that lingers on the tongue. For many, this is a positive, though may take some getting used to.
Its usage can cover a multitude of conditions but is popular among those with chronic pain and depression. Smoke it day or night as it’s suitable for both.
21 percent THC
Short flowering time
Uplifting and energizing
A case of dry mouth is common
Super Skunk Feminized review
If you have any experience with the ganja, you’ve heard the word “skunk” used to describe that distinct smell that the plant can give off. Take a whiff of this particular species, and you’ll know why it has the name.
At 80 percent Sativa and 20 percent Indica, Super Skunk is indeed skunky. You either love or hate the smell, so we can’t draw any conclusions here.
It’s a hybrid strain where Skunk 1 and Skunk-Afghan culminate into a potent delight. Both easy to grow and maintain, we appreciate this plant’s go-with-the-flow attitude. You’ll harvest it after about 9 to 10 weeks.
Stress, pain and lack of appetite can improve with the help of Super Skunk, and the 20 percent THC factor is a major benefit as well. You’ll find you’re able to function without being totally blown away into Neverland here, even though there is a relaxant quality to boot.
Do you live in a wet or humid climate? This strain is mold-resistant, making it a great choice for your collection. In this case, it might be best to grow it indoors where it’s just as suitable for success as it is out in the open air.
Prepare yourself for an earthy encounter, both in taste and aroma.
Induces happiness more than other strains
Resistant to mold
Skunkiness may be a turn-off
Green Revolution Regular review
Green Revolution is the highest yielding species in our list, coming in at around 950 Gr. / 19 Oz per m2 / 11 ft2 when grown outdoors. You get your bang for your buck, so to speak. Rated as an easy-to-grow species, you can’t go wrong here.
It brings together an old-school Haze edition called Super Silver Haze along with Shiva Skunk. The beautiful large buds this species produces makes it one for the books.
Think of a citrusy taste combined with sweetness. The smooth flavor is suitable for those that may otherwise be turned off by that skunk quality.
This strain provides a comfortable high you can enjoy both day and night, making it perfect for getting on with the tasks ahead of you. Your stress and depression levels may see a decrease here — the 20 percent Indica factor provides just enough relief, allowing the Sativa dominance to do its job.
The 2 percent of CBD in Green Revolution means it contains the most of any on this list. THC is important, yes, but this high CBD level is important where therapeutic quality is concerned. This is why you find medical oils made from it.
It’s a wonderful quality when you want to strike a balance between being blazed and down-to-earth. Furthermore, CBD can be very useful when treating other conditions such as inflammatory disorders.
Beautiful, sweet buds
Appropriate day or night
Lowers stress levels
Flowering may take up to 11 weeks
Chronic Feminized review
Last but not least, Chronic makes it onto our top 5 favorites because this strain manages to maintain a high-quality growth with a yield to match. This is why it’s won awards including third prize at the Cannabis Cup.
Flowering in as little as seven weeks, this species can be grown both indoors and out. You could receive up to 900 Gr. / 32 Oz per m2 / 11 ft2) with the latter and 450 Gr. / 16 Oz under your specialized lights inside. It’s another one that’s easy to grow, and for that, we’re thankful.
It’s perfect for use as a medical strain and with conditions like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s. Relaxation can increase while stress and depression take a dip. With a clearer mind, your productivity levels could rise.
There’s a 0.5 percent CBD content while THC carries 20 percent. A 30:70 Indica-Sativa ratio means you can find a sweet area between feeling blissful but concentrated.
Chronic can be enjoyed during the day, but watch out — it may make you sleepy as well, which you don’t want when you’re at work. That is unless your office is super progressive and offers a nap space to which we say, “cheers!”
Best for night time
Dizziness and dry mouth may occur
Summary: No Slacking Here
Popular opinion is changing, and boy, are we glad — cannabis can have many benefits, such as increasing your attention span and productivity.
So long as you find the proper dose and strain for you, legal, natural help could be on the way.
All 5 strains on our list are suitable for the subject at hand.
If we had to choose just one, it would be the 100 percent, pure Sativa Original Haze. At 23 percent THC, this species is potent and doesn’t take much to do its job. Its ability to help with stress and depression makes it all the better for enhancing productivity, in our opinion.
Original Haze is a favorite worldwide, and it’s very clear why we considered it as the best strain for productivity.
Give it a try, and let us know what you think!
